ParticipantI have a Hotpoint Aquarius WM 4 yrs old, got home tonight and the drum is not turning.
So i took the back off, and checked the belt, but thats ok.
Had a fiddle with the wires around the motor, turned electric supply back on and put it on a empty wash cycle, and it started to turn the drum 😀Put the machine back in place, put a load-in and sadly would not turn then 🙁
I noticed the motor sparking, is the motor on its way out, or does it just need new brush’s?November 29, 2007 at 11:59 pm #235811iadom

I think you may be more than a little out with your estimation of 4 years, however it does sound like worn brushes.
This is what you need. http://tinyurl.com/yupm39 if the machine has a GEC/GDA motor, and these http://tinyurl.com/2qjhre if it has an FHP motor.
Be sure to remove the mains plug if you intend to ‘have a go’, and don’t keep trying it with the brushes arcing or you may blow a rather expensive control unit.

Thanks iadom for the advice.
The model is a WMA30 so it think i need the second set of brush’s., 1603910 – Hotpoint, Creda is that correct? As i can only see the WMA30N, but not the WMA30.????November 30, 2007 at 10:22 pm #235813helo_75
Participantno, u initially said it was a wm.. the motor on a wm machine is at the top, thats why jim thought u was out on your age of your machine @ 4 yrs
on the wma, its at the bottom, and requires different brushes
cue one of the guys to give you the right part number

Is it an FHP or Ceset motor as this matters?
Also just to create further problems, is it a WMA30 N,P,PE or S ? Just to be sure but Im sure they use same motors 😕Greg

There is also a Bosch motor, all three motors have different brushes.
The P,S,N etc are just colour variations, yours will have a letter after the WMA30.
