ParticipantHi all,
I have a Indesit WD12x washer dryer and for some reason the fuse went the other day not on a day it had been in use.Just replaced the fuse in the plug and it has blown as soon as plugged in.
Could anyone recommend a place to start looking for the cause?
Many thanks.
The washer dryer is only 3 years old

The mains filter is the first place to look. Remove the mains plug and with the top off have a look at the small component that the mains cable goes into as it enters the machine, you may see signs of damage., if not then its meggar or multimeter time.

The mains filter has failed I would think? That’s the round cylindrical unit at the mains terminal. Earlier serial numbered versions have replaceable units. Whereas later versions need a whole new mains lead and filter assembly. What is the Serial number of this beast anyway?
By the way….don’t mess with it still plugged in….don’t just switch it off. Take the plug right out so that you may live the dream that is the joy of owning an Indesit Washer Dryer…OK? 8)

😀 wow thanks for speedy reply Jim,
The mains filter looks fine (nothing blown) although on checking the flex it looks a little creased where the worktop was swapped.
Question. If I pop a new fuse in the plug and just plug in the flex and mains filter and the fuse blows again have I found the issue and would it be safe to do this.
PS I always unplug stuff as I have had one shock in the distant past and I intend that to be my last.

Hold up Paul!! ….Clearly you are not an experienced electrician and all joking aside, don’t go there! There is an issue needs resolving but plugging in fuses and blowing is no way forward with this…I’m sure you understand my concern here?
