My 4yr old Indesit C133 FF has has just stopped working. Both freezer and fridge are at room temperature. The internal light and therefore the power supply is working, the compressor is very hot and making a “normal” noise but the radiator at the rear is at room temp like the inside.

After looking at your sticky I’m thinking the “gas” has escaped? In which case I will probably scrap it or it might be something “simple” and cheapish like the thermostat/thermistor?

Is there anyway of determining the problem without paying for an engineer to come out to tell me that the FF is dead. BTW since an awful lot of water poured out of the freezer I assume that my partner did not try to defrost it with a knife, etc. Anyway she claims it just stopped working.

    Many thanks in advance Graham.

You’ve more or less answered the question yourself. It’s a mechanical thermostat machine. The compressor is running because the thermostat knows that the machine is too warm and the temperature isn’t falling. Therefore system blockage or no gas.

I’ve “hit” the compressor to try and unblock anything with no result, time for a new FF then.

    Thks for the advice.
