I contract hire my Citroen van and it is great value for money. Total cost a month £215.00 inc VAT. That is including the full maintenance package. I have the van for 3 years, 45,000 miles limit (5p per mile if OTT). The maintenance package covers any repairs and services required, any failed components, worn out tyres and brakes, windscreen wiper blades…. as long as it’s not been physically broken then it’s covered. It also includes the yearly road tax – so in effect – I just put the diesel in!!!
Now, when you buy a van, you will get tax relief on a percentage of your loan amount, with contract hire you can put the entire amount the vehicle costs you a year down as a business expense as you are “hiring” it in effect, so it doesn’t appear on your books as an asset. In turn that will serve to lower your profit for that year and lower your tax liability accordingly. 😉
If you are buying a new van it is the preferred method and works out the cheapest way. The only thing that could really compete would be to buy a £3000 van and run it to death. BUT…. you have to keep it maintained and MOT’d, replace tyres and other worn parts at your own expense…..not me, I pick up the phone and book it in. And a tidy van is so much better for your business image.

Do beware of the main dealers though – their prices are usually a lot higher. I nearly got stung by a Citroen dealer due to his incompetence and lack of communication with me and Citroen themselves. I now read the small print and kick a*se!! :rolls:

to richardable,i would’nt touch a citreon with a thirty foot pole.i bought a relay7-8 years ago,nothing but problems.it cost on average a grand a year in spares and that excludes the normal stuff,tyres,oil etc.a clutch alone was £978 and that was done by the AA who’s labour charges are far cheaper than citreon.
Anyway i decided to go to toyota and ill never bye anything else,totally reliable.

If you saw some of my complaint letters written last year to Citroen’s management, you would be convinced I was an axe – wielding maniac……. 😯
