    Hi all

I have a 3 month old Hoover 7146 washer dryer. I usually only use two or three of the available programmes but recently had cause to use a few others.

During a standard wash cycle at 40 or 60 degrees the machine uses very little water for the rinse cycle. However, on the quick washes designed for smaller and light soiled loads the machine uses noticeably more water for the rinse. It also uses more water for the “rinse only” programme.

Whilst I understand that modern machines use a lot less water than older ones, I was wondering if the variation of water usage I mentioned above should be expected.

    Regards

The key word here Neil is “noticeably”….and your machine actually fills with the correct amount of water every time. The fact is that larger loads show less water splashing around is due entirely to the limited space in the drum. But let me assure you your machine is washing your clothes as it was designed to do. 😉

The GOLDEN RULE is : Always read the manufacturers instructions and load your machine accordingly by garment type, loading size and correct detergent quantity. Then, let your machine do the job and I’m sure your clothes will come out cleaned and dried perfectly. 😀

Hi Martin, thanks for the prompt reply.

The thing is that (thinking there was a fault) i tried each rinse cycle without any clothes in the machine, and thy still used different amounts of water. Though I’m assuming this is done to the intended purpose/operation of each programme?

    Yeah, don’t worry about it!

    Your machine is fine 😀
