ParticipantHey everyone,
I have a bunch of problems with my washer dryer (inherited from previous owner) that I’ve coped with but coming to the end of my patience. I’ll list them as best as I can below (not very technical, do bear with me). My main question is- is this machine worth repairing or would it better to get a new one. I think its about 5 years old (is that middle age by machine’s standard?) and cost the original owner quite a bit.
Problems…
– the timer thing doesn’t work. From reading advice here, I understand that its not a timer issue. At the moment, the only thing that works is when I put it on C (a very long cycle), where it stops at the E phase after which I have to manually turn it to F for the cycle to complete.
-There’s a continuous smell.
-The powder/conditioner compartment doesn’t work.
-Latest problem- very noisy on spin. Actually scary.
-Rust stains now appearing on clothes.I’m having a baby soon and anticipating lots of washing so the very long cycle that I’m forced to use is not user friendly. All other options seem to stop before it gets to E, so starting at C is the best (trial and error).
Assuming that a call out charge of around £100 and spares etc on top of it, I feel like it might be more worthwhile getting a new machine. The hubby disagrees.
Any opinions out there/ estimation of what it may cost me? Its a built in model.
Thank you.Harpal

The drum bearings are shot for starters!….can be a costly fix 😯
Worst case scenario on a 5 year old washer dryer?……not much change out of £200 😥

Thanks for the prompt response. So I take it that that doesn’t include the call out charge, which will probably bring it to £300…..
Think I can see where this is going……December 11, 2007 at 5:53 pm #236838petalpop
