ParticipantHoping someone can help. I replaced fan oven element in above which works fine, the problem I have is that when oven reaches temp the main fan cuts out at same time then cuts in with element when temp drops. I reckon on a TOC but advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Paul.

Participantinteresting one that… as far as im aware, they usually have a trigger stat for the cooling fan normally
a toc wouldnt normally allow the oven back on, it normally trips and stays tripped doesnt it?
id be looking more at the oven stat personally?

Some of these had a small PCB on the top of the oven that controlled the fans if I recall. (It’s been a while). If the original element had shorted, it may have taken this out.

When you say main fan, are you meaning the circulation fan in the oven or the cooling fan?

The oven fan is normally switched on with the function switch and not with the stat. It seems like the wiring has got mixed up somehow. I would trace the wiring back from the fan and see where the supply is coming from. It shouldn`t be coming throught the stat. If anyone has a wiring diagram for this model it would help.

But had someone been in before you??
Were the 3 wires on the stat seperate? are they all singles? and is one going to the pilot light?

When you changed the element did you disconnect the wires from the fan motor as well? If so, when you re-connected them did you inadvertently get them the wrong way round so the thermostat is switching the fan off and the element is staying on all the time? Although of course this would mean the thermostat would never switch back on by itself and the oven would overheat. Just an idea.
Alternatively, it may have been wired wrongly from new and the customer never realised that the fan was switching on and off with the element..

Thanks Roly, ive had another look at this and i think the new stat i fitted matbe faulty as the fan connection should be permanent live out of stat but its cutting off with temp. I tried other connections on stat for a permenant 230v supply and there isnt any. The only other option is to connect fan to live in on stat and control fan from wall switch until new stat arrives.

Presumably then this thermostat has an auxiliary switch or switches, like the Diamond H 41 or 42 range. From what you’ve just said it sounds to me like there should be a link wire from the live terminal into the ‘stat main switch to one pole of the auxiliary switch, that’s either been missing from new or else, hope you don’t mind me suggesting it, you took off when changing the stat, it dropped on the floor out of sight and you forgot to put it back. Could that be it? We all do it 😯
