ParticipantHi there.
I have recently broken the glass on the bottom right hand side storage glass of the cooker in my rented house! (slipped on the lamiate floor!)
The cooker is a Cannon, 10425G
I have been told by Cannon spares people that the part is obsolete!
What can I do to get hold of a replacement?
Does somewhere well relica parts or similar? The part number is apparently HPT6604348
(It is a mirrored glass door front)Thanks

Part number 6604348 is still showing in the Partfinder software. It may have only recently been declared obsolete, if so you may have extreme difficulty in getting one.
It is quite expensive though, well over £60.00 😥

Participanthow old is it? if its under 5 yr old, play them at their own game, and call them out under the 5 yr parts warranty, if they cant supply their own parts, then theyre gonna have to replace it for you arent they
just dont tell em its because u slipped, tell em it just exploded

Yes they will helo at a very inflated price because the will charge for the callout and charge her a concessional sale price as well.
Just as an aside why should Cannon be liable to replace the appliance just because the customer had an accident and broke the glass.
As you know trading standards state that any problems with an appliance shall be dealt with by the retailler, so i hope they bought it at comet. If I were you deagledaddy i would try ringing up again i have checked my partfinder and it is showing as a current part.It could be it is just out of stock at the present moment.Unfortunately some of the numpties that work on the spares just can,t be bothered to do the job they have to do.

Participantcant help yourself can you?
regardless of who broke the glass, hotpoint/cannon/creda/indesit/ariston/merloni have a legal obligation to supply spare parts for their appliances for a reasonable period of time,
things get broken..the customer never said they wanted it done free, now did they? they were only concerned that the part wasnt available after a short period of timeyes the sales of goods act reasons that the customer deals with the retailer, and if thats comet, didnt they buy it from somewhere? so its the same thing ultimately, the liability lies with the manufacturer
fairs fair, and thats why i posted what i didDecember 16, 2007 at 8:37 am #237025kiddo66

This is not helping the customer is it though.I told them to ring again and get someone else didnt I.Not to ring in and tell people a pack of lies.
I am sure you know best though as you seem to know everything about how my firm works better than me.Mods I know this is a public forum thats why I am trying to give a balanced view on it.

There is, so far as I am aware, an obligation to have cosmetic spares available for 6 years and functional for 8 years currently, it used to be longer.
Basically, if it’s over 8 years old you’ve no chance going down the road Helo suggests and I strongly suspect it will be over that age. To have an appliance replaced under that gem is a bit of a lottery and depends very much on the manufacturer and the age of the appliance but, kiddo is correct in that it would like be a concessionary sale and that you’d have to pony up a good bit of the cost.
Unless someone happens to have one knocking about, which is extremely doubtful, then there is virtually no chance of sourcing a replacement.

Hey, just an update for you.
After a month of sitting on it and doing nothing I got in touch with Cannon direct (again)….
I now have a correct part fitted and looking good.
The reason for the part being “obsolete” with them and all the other parts places I called was that they had superseeded the old parts numbers with some new nomenclature. So I am thinking whislt they were updating the system some parts got “lost”!
Never mind, I got there in the end.
