I think the drum bearing is gone – very noisy on spin. When I grasp the drum at the front, in addition to the movement of the whole drum assembly (ie springing on the shock absorbers) there is distinct play/movement between the inner drum and what it is mounted on – does this sound like the bearing?
The pump sometimes squeals loudly when it is draining water, I have checked for obstructions from the front access door, it seems clear and spins smoothly – do I need a new pump.
The cheapest I could find the bearing kit in the UK is £132.00 but a place called nettoparts does it for £26.58 and a pump for £30.95 plus £3.50 delivery so it may be worth a go – I would try doing the bearings first.
Does anyone know how easy this is, and whether it can be done without special tools? I have replaced bearing on things in the past and have often found they can be (extremely carefully) cut off the shaft with a angle grinder when the manual says a special puller is needed.
Thanks
