Question for any Hotpoint/Merloni/Comet guys & gals.

Have you had any incidence of early failure of the combined mains cable/filter assy.

I had a WF321P this morning, only 14 months old that was tripping the circuit breakers as soon as the machine was plugged according to the customer.

It did trip once for me with the plug to the machine internals removed from the filter and there was a very slight blip on the meter when testing between the live & neutral on the plug.

However after reconnecting and checking out all other components it worked fine.
I have ordered a new cable, just wondered if this is a common occurrence on recent production.

yep, think i posted about this a while back, the filter & lead is prob fine, its the moulded plugs that are failing, cut it off & fit a wired plug, problem solved!

Something else to be aware of:

We have seen a number of these with the mains suppresor melted into a black mess, my thoughts are that the cable terminations onto the supressors are not fitted securely and thus arcing is occuring.
