    Hi,
Mate of mine has an Indesit idl40 dishwasher and midway through the cycle lights 2 and 4 flash (intermittant fault at first but doing it regular now), water is left in and it’s heating up cos there’s steam when you open the door. I tested thermostat and it was o.k. aswell as heater and wiring, so I put it on prog 3 and the water got upto over 60 celcius before draining out for the rinse (is this too high?). Could the thermostat be stuck closed? Heater readings are good so maybe control board?
    Any help appeciated.

The thermostat under the tub is a safety cut-out. Temperature is measured by a thermistor or NTC device, next to the dispenser. They do fail, but are only supplied as part of the control board.

    thanks for that.
other posts seem to suggest lights 2 and 4 flashing would be some kind of heating fault but I know the heater tests fine and comes on so from what you say it would mean a new control board.
Do you think it would be better for him to buy new?
    thanks again
