The warning buzzer on my freezer keeps coming on indicating that the temperature is too warm inside. If I put it onto fast freeze, it stops and the temperature drops but then 24 hours later the same thing happens again. I’m useless with appliances and don’t fancy replacing any parts myself. Will it be worth calling an engineer or might I just as well buy a new appliance (it’s out of warranty)?

Failure of PCB or temperature sensor. Sensor is not replaceable, so machine would be scrap. PCB is replaceable at around £60-70 last time I checked.

Fast freeze by-passes the control circuits and just switches on the compressor.

Thanks penguin. I reckon the call out fee and cost of parts means it’s barely worth having the thing looked at so I think I’ll take advantage of the sales and buy a new free-standing freezer – will use the built-in space for other storage.

    Re: Schreiber APP6403 Freezer

just found this post and interestingly, having the same problem with my freezer…there is a slight difference in that when the buzzer comes on i have to press the fast freeze button and then turn the dial to 0 and then back up to 3 for the compressor to kick in….don’t mind investing in a new pcb if thats the case but now wondering whether its the temperature sensor, as i have to do the trick with the dial to activate the compressor??

    any advice greatly appreciated…..

sounds like the pcb a woth while repair against the cost of replacing the appliance.
