Are you sure it’s not a Servis 1000 spin jobbie?
You get what you pay for 😉

I have seen this machine today and it’s a Beko derivative. And £149.00. Badged “Expresswash” – definitely not Hoover / Candy.
As I have said before, these machines will sell to the credit card society on price alone. But who will fix it? It’s not worth fixing from day one. Not surprisingly, B&Q’s own site doesn’t recognize or show it at all which speaks volumes.
Yet again, Today’s bargain, Tomorrow’s landfill. 😉Steve.

IIRC Tesco did one earlier last year for a blindingly unbelievable £99.99 :rolls:
It’s just a scam by these firms to put a ‘dummy’ or ‘lost leader’ front of house to get the punters to bite. After all said and done they are really up against it from the Internet cowboys these days, advertising cheap imported junk that (when you want to actually buy one) are in fact, “due to the high demand, we are out are out of stock”…..They then take a punt on the chances the enquirer will buy something else from them….often as not they do!
B&Q customers nationwide fall into the ‘something for nothing, always up for a bargain, cheap and cheerful, I can fit in myself’ category. So what more natural a eye catching deal than a washing machine for under £150…? It goes with the territory after all said and done! 😉
By the way, if you have any idea what the turnover was for B&Q in the last year or so it would make your eyes water……well for some at least 😥
Their owners (Kingfisher) have suffered a massive drop in share value (issue price £3.50) currently down to around £1.47. They need a steady cashflow turnover just to survive through 2008 so expect more down to earth bargains at B&Q as their directors are stocking up on paper hankies right now!
I wouldn’t mind betting Kingfisher will offload B&Q at the earliest opportunity. Homer TLC Inc, owners of Home Depot in the USA are seen as potential bidders by many. 😉

Yes, B&Q has always been a shop with a few real bargains to get you in the place plus lots of other stuff at top price. In Elgin we have an independent DIY superstore called Decora. They have nothing like the buying power of B&Q but still manage to undercut them on things like paint, wallpaper etc.

http://shop.gadgetvault.co.uk/mini-wash … -101-p.asp😯 Didn`t think you could still get those. The last ones I saw was the old Tefal washboy and the matching spinner, they used to sell for about £70 each IIRC.

I was told last week by a customer who works for B & Q that they are going to stop selling free standing appliances, due to the amount of returrns for vibration, leaks and that they are unable to answer
customers questions.

Now all we need is Tesco to learn the hard way as well. 😉
