Happy new year to all
A friend has a Smeg STX 2. The program is stuck on P0 – when pressing the program button there is a beep but it does not advance to P1 like it should.
On searching through the forum I found the reset procedure and tried that, no luck.
I also see that it could be that it thinks the door is closed (and you cannot program with the door closed). So this sounded like a good piste to me and I opened up the door to check the door latch to see if it was worn. It does not look worn to me and when opening and closing the door the switch is correctly activated (although I did not have a meter to check the switch properly).
So my questions
1. Given that the switch is correctly activated, could it be that the actual switch is at fault? I’m guessing not likely as a simple switch should be reliable, no?
2. Is there anything else that could cause this fault?

The switch works, because the computer beeps to acknowledge that the it has been pressed. This is almost certainly a computer fault. I would get some help to check this properly – the computer board is very expensive.

Thanks ‘P45’. This is the last thing they wanted to hear – although I think that it will speed the decision. They have already spent ~400 quid over the last year repairing the machine, and are really not happy with it, so given what you have said I think the machine will be junked!
