    Hi Folks.

Got a Door gasket to fit to one of these next week. Is there anything I need to know in advance?. Does the front come off for instance.? Straightforward job or PITA ?

    Thanks in Anticipation,
    Mike

This is a Smeg built machine i think…and a job i hate 🙁 . The door seal has a double lip which means you have to be sure that both inner and outer ones are fitted properly. The easiest way i was told , and have used it once , was to put a little fairy liquid on the inside of the seal , fit a small section and then ‘feed’ the door seal round the tub edge .

The front does come off . You have to remove the control panel to access the top screws . Be careful of the bowden cable because there’s not much slack .

The repair instructions suggest taking the front concrete weight off but i’ve never done this….maybe thats why i’ve always struggled 🙂

The one advantage over a Neff built W/D is that the exhaust hose for the dryer heater going into the top of the door seal is quite flexible and this makes it a little easier to get the seal fitted at the top.

    Good luck….
