ParticipantHi
I’ve just had a new Hotpoint washing machine delivered after the last one was damaged by the delivery company.
However, this one had a wet drum and when I unhooked the drainage hose at the back, it had water left in it.
A friend told me it sounds like it is a reconditioned machine rather than a new one – could this be the case? The delivery man said that it was probably wet from factory testing.
What do you think I should do, if anything?

We sell Bosch and they all come damp inside, but they should smell “new” inside and no trace of any detergent and/or fragrance anywhere.

just had a poke around in it. there is a bit of ‘brown’ mildewy stuff around the rim of the powder draw but it smells new and plasticy with no sign of detergent.
is factory testing random, or do all machines get it? i just seem to recall that the last machine – the same model – was completely dry. ordered from the same company and arrived a month before…

Shouldn t have any mildew at all 😯
Most companies are to a standard that only so many per batch are tested.
I would be very concerned if any of the Bosch or ISE we sell come with mildew on them 😕Greg

Boil it to ensure cleanliness. Clean off any residues first.
It may have been a little slow coming through the system.

well
mildew is perhaps a bit of strong word. more like brown staining which comes off when i scrath with my nail – also, it’s not in the corners where you would expect mildew to be…
