ParticipantZanussi F1256W Aquacycle 1200 Washing Machine.
I bought this washing machine approx 5 yrs ago. I have had no problems…until Saturday past that is. I had put on a 60 wash and when I came back into the room after about 30 mins I could smell a distinctive melting plastic smell and the machine had stopped (still with some water in it). The ‘end’ light was flashing. When I went to put it on again, the start button illuminated and then all the lights went off. It the wouldn’t do any cycle. I left it for a couple of days then attempted to turn it onto a 40 wash. It started normally with the cycle but after about 15-20 mins the same thing happened (minus the burning/melting smell). There is still some water and clothes in the machine. Can anyone assist re advice? Is it worth calling someone out to look at it or does it sound like I need a new machine. Thank you in advance.January 7, 2008 at 6:18 pm #238851richardable

have you ever checked and cleaned out the filter? if its blocked or there is an object in there which stops the drain sequence then the machine will stop full of water as it isnt draining.

Quite possible that the drain pump has gone…….
Power off if investigating.

Thank you for your advice. I opened the filter (if that’ s the wee round plughole at the bottom right in front of the machine). After soaking up the rush of water I got a bit of threaded material (i.e from a dishcloth) and a small metal object inside. Apart from that I can’t find anything else. IT hasn’t sorted out the problem, but having read through other messages re Zanussi, if the END light flashes twice every few seconds, and I can’t start a programme, does it sound like a drainage problem? Do you think there is another blockage? (Goodness knows what my 3 yr old has put in there!) How is it best to check & where do I start? Sorry for being such a numpty!

I’ve had someone come out and take a look at it. Whatever got into the pump caused some message to be sent to the control panel/circuit panel & now it’s ruined. I think I’ll just have to buy a new machine as the cost of replacing the circuit/control board (and probably pump) will not be worthwhile.
Many thanks for your help and suggestions. 😕
