Hi everyone, wonder if you can help diagnose this one?

About 20 mins into a cycle the dishwasher made a popping sound and completely powered off. I have checked the fuse, which is fine, and I have checked the water intake filter which is fine, and no water blockages either.

I have tested the main switch with a multimeter, power is getting through ok, I have also removed the control module which visually looks ok, nothing burnt or anything.

What is the most likely thing to cause the machine to not even power on, my guess would be the control unit, but you guys should know better? Thanks in advance for any help!

    Cheers

    Allan

    Thanks for the swift reply,

Pardon my ignorance, but I’m not sure which part you are referring to, could you point it out from these drawings? I think it should be on page 4 or 5

    Thanks again!

Perfect, I’ve removed the part, I’ll try and get another one tommorow, is there any way to test the one I have?

You should have continuity through 2 pairs of contacts and nothing at all if you cross meter. Any signs of soot usually means it’s gone.

You would need a meter that reads capacitance to test it.

Does it look black or smell of electrical burning? if not it’s probably ok.

The m/c will work without it, but will interfere with tv and radio etc.

I have continuity, and the part looks to be in perfect condition, although my meter doesn’t measure capacitance.

The machine will not power on at all, so if works without this part, then I’m assuming that will probably be ok.

I also pulled the main power switch apart (wish I hadn’t, a pain to put back together!) some of the contacts had some soot on them, I cleaned them up, put it back together again, still no luck!

I appreciate the support guys, any other ideas?
