    Hello all,
As stated Zanussi Tumble Drier TC481W door catch is broken.
The machine is about 8 years old (pretty good eh!) but the wire(?) between the door opening button and the catch is broken.
We have got the door open OK and the machine works OK by jamming the door closed (when in operation) with a suitable object (laundry basket).
Before I get too involved with the connection between the opening button and catch any (sensible) advice on this please?

Re: Zanussi TC481W Door catch broken

If you look at the door button carefully, you will see that it has two cables, feeding to a left and right hand door catch. Assuming that the other one is still in place, just reverse the door hanging. This is the skinflint Yorkshire solution.

If you enjoy a bit of screwdrivering, you could always remove the second cable and swap it across for the broken one.

Or, if you order up p/no 1258266-07/1 from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk , you will receive a new button mechanism, two cables and two latch mechanisms.

Power off before delving inside, please.

    Thank you Penguin45
At present the “jamming door shut” proceedure is working OK.
If I have a go at replacing the mechanism how complicated is it?
At first glance it looks rather difficult as there is no obvious front panel to remove for a simple replacement.
    Regards,
    Mike
(My wife is in danger of thinking of machine replacement as it is now 8 years old and has given very good service)
