    Hi everybody 🙂

Thanks to this site and the UKwhitegoods store, I have today replaced the noisy plastic wheels with the ‘old’ plastic bushes on the front of our dryer.

This cured some of the noise problems, but after a few minutes in use the thing produces a lot of mechanical rumbling in one direction.

I am now wanting to change the drum bearing, but can’t see an easy way to get to it.

Does anybody know how to get to the beast so I may replace said bearing.

The back of the machine has a centre cap and under there is the rear shaft with what looks like a metal reed that may be a thermal trip.

Other than that, I can’t see an easy way into the thing. grr.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Re: Hotpoint CTD00 getting to drum bearing

The metal cap covers the end of the drum shaft and bearing unit.
To check the bearing, first – Power Off!! :plug:
Remove the cap and the anti static wiper. (copper spring with 2 screws). Then straighten and extract the bent pin that goes through the drum shaft. Then you can remove the castle washer and inspect the rear bearing and drum shaft.
Usually the shaft will have worn away the bearing and elongated the hole. If this is the case (and it usually is) the square bearing should be removed carefully and the shaft inspected for damage.
Any parts required can be obtained from the Shop @ logo – Dave will be able to supply the correct spares. 😉

Remember, Power Off before any inspection please!!!!

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.
