Glen Dimplex Home Appliances has saved over sixty jobs after buying Blackpool-based Britannia Living out of administration for an undisclosed sum.

The range cooker distributor, Britannia, went into administration on September 26.

Russell Cash and David Thornhill, partners at FRP Advisory, were appointed joint administrators and reached a deal to sell the business to Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, saving all 67 jobs at Britannia.

The Blackpool based Britannia Living operation is a supplier of premium kitchen appliances and was founded in 1995 who also distributed Best cooker hoods in the UK. It is believed that the range cookers were made for Britannia by Bertazzoni in Italy.

Its latest results, for the year to April 30, 2012, saw a fall in revenues from £10m to £9.2m and pre-tax profits of £500,262, down from £725,804.

Russell Cash said: “We are thrilled to have secured the future of this long-standing business and the employment of its entire staff. We wish the purchaser and everyone involved with the business continued success in the future.”

Denver Hewlett, chief executive of Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, said “We are delighted that we have acquired such a great brand with an impressive history and are confident we can support its future development.

“This acquisition supports our long term strategy of developing and expanding GDHA’s presence in the premium appliance market.”
