ParticipantHello,
I’m having terrible trouble with my Zanussi de6965. If you remember the other month I posted that it kept saying “AL6”, which is a drain fault. The reason it was not draining was because it was not filling with water. I took the side offf to have a look and magically it started to fill. So who knows what the problem was, perhaps a valve was stuck and I dislodged it moving the dishwasher?
Anyway, here we are again with another problem! The dishwasher will not wash. I can hear water going into it but for some reason it just doesn’t come out through the spray arms. I took the side off and could see water entering on the one side of the blue “tank” and I could see it swirling the ion exchnage resin? After two or three goes, it finally started spraying. I didn’t do anything, I was just watching! I put a wash in to test it; everything came out sparkling.
So I screwed the side back on and pushed it back under, and you guessed it, it is not spraying again. What confused me is I could hear water, so where was it going? I put a bucket under the drain hose and the bucket fills up in no time at all. So it seems the washer fills and drains without spraying.
What has gone wrong? Does it sound like tempramental valves sticking? You can guarantee if someone comes out, it will work perfectly!
Thanks.

This is very unclear, Stephen. There is only one motor, which fulfils both wash and drain functions. If it drains, the motor must be working. The only logical explanation is that the machine is underfilling – a well known problem concerning the IWMS. This is the large plastic water matrix under the left hand side panel. If the bottom section looks black, it is probably choked.
The other possibility is syphoning – if the end of the drain hose is below the water level in the machine, the water will run in and straight back out again.
Bit more observation required, I think.

Penguin45.Hello. Yes it does look black at the bottom. Can this be cleaned out or do I need a new unit? Is cleaning a DIY job or do I need a professional? How can i stop this from happening in the future once it is fixed? Thanks.
