my machine has been working fine, yesterday i put it on, it went part way through a cycle then seemed to stop. The delicates 50 light is flashing. i have no idea what this means, if it helps anyone it is light number 7. i notice on lots of forums that the delcates light in congunction with other lights flashes for certain errors, but i cant find anything in relation to just the one ‘delicates’ light flashing.
i would apprecate any help on this, heers

Delicates light should be number 6. however light 7 is still the same error code. Fault is heater time out. Can be faulty heating element, control PCB or loose NTC.
Meggar or multimeter time, with the mains plug removed of course.

Hello, I too have this machine with this problem. I’ve checked the PCB for obvious signs of burning/dry joints and it’s fine. I checked for continuity and resistance from the heater to earth and it just gives open circuit. Can I assume the heater needs replacing or should I check something else first?

If there is no continuity between the heater terminals then it is faulty, quite a common failure if it is the tube type element.

Have just measured resistance between the 2 heavy duty terminals on the heater tube and I get 25.5 ohms. Before I was testing between one of the terminals and earth which gave open circuit. Do you still think its the heater?

That is about right for the heater, the other common cause of no heat is the PCB, rarely any visible damage on it, just very poor Indesit components. 😥
Two different types used, full serial number needed to ID.

After reading many posts on this site and taking your advice, I worked out that the heater itself was probably not at fault. With a PCB coming in at about £70, I opted for Hotpoint’s own £89 fixed price repair. He’s just been, changed the board and Bingo, hot water!
Thank you so much for saving me from buying a new heater! I can recommend their service very highly as the whole machine now has a 14 day warranty and the PCB is covered for another 12 months.
When you phone for an appointment they will push you very hard to take out a 12 month warranty for the whole machine for £159 – which is fine, but only if you really think you will need it.

Two different PCB’s both £25.00 ex vat list price. Cost to Hotpoint a couple of quid if that.
A local independent may well have been cheaper, 😉

When you think about the £159.00 offer, what that means is that you pay them an extra £70.00 to cover the possibilty of paying £89.00 for the next 12 months, now thats an offer you can’t refuse. 😯 :rolls:

Could I ask why you are so pleased that you had another 14 day warranty? How long had you owned the unit before it broke? Mine lasted for 3 weeks over the year. I would not expect for a dishwasher to last just over a year. My old Bosch appliance is still going and the Hotpoint one is not. Piece of crap IMOO.
