ParticipantHi,
Over the last few weeks we have been having problems with our Diplomat gas oven and grill.
When we put the grill on, the buttons get really hot to the point where you can’t touch them and then the grill and clock will switch off for about 5-10 minutes. After that, the clock will come back on and once reset, the grill will work again.
I called Diplomat, they are charging £75.00 just to come out and look at it, but the person on the phone did say it sounded like a problem with the cooling fan.
Can anyone confirm this as well as let me know where I can get a new fan from and how easy it would be to install? Thanks
Maggie

Hi Maggie
It does sound like it may be a cooling fan problem. As well as the cooling fan though there’s also a small circuit board which controls the fan that could be faulty.
Without having it tested there’s no way of saying which component is faulty and it may be worth seeing if you can get someone local (try repairs@) to examine it rather than start throwing money at parts and hoping it’s the right bit.Since it’s a gas cooker you’ll be looking at getting someone CORGI registered. Even though the repair is likely to be to electrical components only, to gain access the machine may have to be disconnected from the gas supply.
Both parts mentioned above should be available from UKW:
Cooling fan – 082233400 (roughly £50)
Cooling fan PCB – 082814400 (roughly £30)You can email spares@ukwhitegood.co.uk for more accurate pricing and availability 🙂

Thanks,
I will organise for someone to take a look as like you said, I don’t really want to be spending more money than I need to by guessing what the fault might be.
