    Hi
I have a Butler BDW6010 integrated dishwasher that has a slight problem. The door catch has suddenly got a lot stiffer when you close the door, and also the washing programme starts when you press the button, not when you close the door. Any idea’s?

    Thanks

The only Butler I’ve ever seen was a SMEG – your description of the fault suggests that the door latch is jammed in the closed position. Does the machine stop if you open the door when it’s circulating?

Thanks for the response Penguin45. The machine doesn’t stop when you open the door no. You could be right in suggesting it’s a Smeg machine aswell, as the oven, hob and microwave are all Smeg. Is this a simple fix? I assumed it must be something to do with the latch. Whe you say latch, which part of the latch is it? The door side or machine side?

    Thanks

In the door – it’s a turn-over mechanism. If you look into the slot, there should be two “prongs” looking back at you. If the slot appears to be blocked, the latch may well be in the closed position.

Power off if you finish up pulling the door apart.
