… only when it is on 60 or 95 degree washes.

    Hello everyone.

I’ve been having a search and read through the past messages, and you are obviously all well clued up. This problem I have is causing me some confusion, and I’m hoping someone may be able to help me.

The problem has been going on for 6 months or so. Everytime a 95 or 60 degree wash is selected the machine trips the RCBO mid-cycle. If you try and run it shortly after the trip, it will just trip again, on any selected program.

If the machine is left a while (possibly to cool down?) a 40 wash can be selected and it will work fine. I left it at that and told the wife she would have to make do, which she was happy to do. However, with a second baby on the way it is now necessary for the hotter temperature washes to work, as there will be one or two nappies to wash in the near future.

As a first stab, I changed the heater and thermostat but this hasn’t worked. Should I now consider looking at the motor? Could the extra heat within the enclosure be causing the motor windings to overheat and trip?

What values should I be looking for when I megger the motor windings?

Many thanks in advance for any light you can shed on my problems!

Heater was the obvious candidate……. I’d get the front off and check for chaffed/bared wiring around the area of the concrete weight next. Lots of loose wiring flapping around there that should be secured.

    Hi Penguin45

Sorry its taken me so long to get around to replying. Thank you for your advice – found a bit of chaffing on some wires were it goes through the metal and taped these up. Also found a small split in the door seal by the door catch – water seemed to be spraying across the contacts. Only happened on higher temp washes because the soap foamed up more and created a little high pressure area which forced the water out.

    Thanks again.
