    Hi all

my mum has got a indesit dishwasher idl 705, had about 3 years, but has developed a fault.

the unit switches on ok, water enters the unit and washers ok, emptys the water ok, the problem is, when the water gets warm, it carries on getting hot and hotter, then the main circuit breaker fires to cut the power off

im assuming the thermastat has gone, am i correct, if so, where can i source one from, ive told her to keep it off for now

    thanks to all who answers

More likely to be an earth fault on the heating element…….. There is no thermostat as such; temperature control is by thermistor and electronics.

An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk if you wish to order a replacement part.

You would be advised to get the element tested before ordering anything – power off if you plan to do this yourself.

would be easyily ready to be tested on a volt meter to prove its this?

how much would such a likly part know of the top of your head or is it worth her purchasing a new unit

Test meter will tell you the resistance, and may reveal a bad earth leak. A Meggar is the only way test it properly.

    Element should be this chap:

    c. 25 ohms across the terminals, nothing to earth. Heater must be split from the circuit and unplugged.
