    Hi

Have a Hoover vented dryer HDV6 needing a motor capacitor

GIAS website only shows complete motor assy(s).

The symptoms are similar to relay pcb fault[starts ok sometimes but stops after a few minutes]. Timer and pcb have been eliminated by substitution.

Is anyone able to help with value of the capacitor on either of these motors

    Thanks
    Ron

IIRC it’s an 8uf capacitor fitted to that motor. Surefire way to check for cap. failure is to remove the lid, switch on, and the motor should hum. Then push the drum round by hand and it should start and continue turning until it stops to reverse. Then the motor will hum again. Push the drum and it should start to turn.

    Steve.

If the whole aplliance dies then it’s not going to be the capacitor. I would be looking for a mains supply problem, possibly the plug, socket or suppressor.

Is this a condenser dryer? if so it’s worth checking the float switch. It’s a sod to get to as it’s a drum out job…

Thanks for the replies. Will take an 8uf along.

When it stops the timer can still be heard ticking away so mains supply problem was eliminated early on before the substitutions. Should have said that 😳
Was convinced this was relay fault. Its a vented job this one.

    Thanks again
