Hi Chaps Newbie on the forum……….have searched the forum for the same problem but can’t see anything that matches my problem exactly so here goes!
Washing machine stopped working yesterday and smelled of burning,after investigation the brushes were found to be totally worn out!Managed to source some new ones locally for an extortionate price, fitted them( they are orientated correctly), and put back together ,now when you switch the machine on it goes through the filling stage but nothing else happens! All i can hear is a slight clicking from behind the main control panel to the front top right hand corner of the machine.
Would the brushes running that low have caused another problem or is it just a knackered motor and time for a new machine?
Any advice appreciated as her indoors can’t survive more than 24 hours without a machine!

There is a thermal overload cut-out in the motor, in line with the brushes. If that has failed, you will not get a circuit across the brush connectors. If the brushes were literally down to nothing the current overload can pop the computer board.
You’ll need a test meter to check the motor; power off before going in.

Thanks for the advice, i’m pretty sure it fried the circuit board but not having the knowledge to test it, it was easier on my health to buy her indoors a new machine ,as she can’t cope for more than 24 hours without the machine on!!

the brushes on these stick in the holders, run a file over the side of them and make sure they slide in the holder okay, ive fitted buckets of these and 85{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time they need a slight adjustment, its a shame cos bosch charge a fortune for these!
