Sump is the central area under the filters, standing water in the bottom is normal. Do you mean the tray under the machine? If this has flooded, you need to pull the machine out, throw down some towels and (with the power off) lean the machine to one side and wait for the flow to stop.
The usual cause is excess foam caused by multi-function tablets – change to a single function tablet, powder or Fairy Bursts. These are all low-froth products. Also, once the machine is running, never open the door until the programme has finished.
If the problem repeats, there may actually be a leak and further invstigation will be required.
