ParticipantMain oven on NEFF U1271 double oven not heating up. Light, fan and top oven all work ok. Is this likely to be the element needs replacing or could it be something more complicated.

Element is always the first place to look.

Coincidentally I’ve just come on here to post exactly the same problem on exactly the same model (Neff U1721) and saw your post queeg.
Would appreciate any tips if you do decide to go ahead and replace the element yourself. I’ll probably have a go at doing ours next weekend assuming I get a replacement element by then.
Probably worth looking at this thread as well…

SteveBC,
Have stripped down the oven in readiness for new element –
taken off the panel covering the fan and the fan (which was non too easy)
The spindle nut came off ok – then the tab washer prized off with a small screwdriver.
To get the fan off the shaft I sprayed a little WD40 and left for 1/2 hour. Then put small adjustable spanner on the flatted end of the shaft and turned the fan backwards and forwards at the same time as easing it forwards. Eventually it came off.
Oh – remember to isolate the leccy before pulling out the old element from its mounting otherwise sparks could ensue 😳
will let you know if it all works when the new element arrives

Cheers for the update queeg.
My wife’s reaction to me saying I was going to do it myself was “I don’t think its wise you doing anything electrical” so I may be calling someone out. 😳
Edit: But I’ve ordered the part anyway and will have a go when it arrives with the whole electrics to the house switched off.
Further edit: My wife is getting very worried now and has suggested Howard (the caretaker from the school she works at does it) cos he’s quite handy. We’ll I’ll show handy Howard. 😉

why on earth would you take the fan off to change the elementAND… you then post a duff link for him to buy a part elsewhere
beggars belief, it really does.. do you think this site is cost free to run? ok, so we engineers help you out, but sometimes it would be nice if just for once, you put a little bit back in to pay for the upkeep of this site
i just cant believe it

Helo , i think its the half moon element where there is a screw hidden behind the fan blade 😉January 31, 2008 at 7:41 pm #241267queeg

Because the retaining screw is behind the fan

Finally replaced our faulty element today. Such a straightforward job if the fan wasn’t so difficult to get off just to get at that one hidden screw. Needed an hour of WD40 and brute force.
Thanks for the assistance queeg and Penguin45.

Steve , i wouldn’t worry about the trouble with getting the fan off . You’ll find that even us more experienced engineers have struggled with its removal at times 😉
