ParticipantThis is a strange one ! Went out to a customer last week who has a Indesit WIL Series washer dryer. Fault notified was that the machine was not working: When I got there the machine starts to fill on a wash cycle and after about 45 seconds of filling the drain pump starts, the machine is still filling at this stage but then the Dryer Motor Starts along with filling, draining and dryer motor all running ?
Second ECO light then illuminates and start light flashing, the machine then is locked and the only way of reseting is to switch of at the wall socket. Manual states faulty pressurestat or Module. Obtained a pressurestat tand went back to fit, Machine still faulty ?
Customer then decides to scrap appliance and I sell her a new ISE.
She pays in full and today the ISE arrives, Get a call from customer this evening just a closing saying that the Indesit is now Working, customers relation has wiggled srain hose and its works fine and now she does not need the new ISE that I have for her !This sounds unlikely to me but she reckons it states in the user manual words to this effect.
I am womdering how I stand with this as I have the new ISE as ordered and the customers money. I am wondering about calling round to see this amazing repair myself but I cannot see how such a thing could happen.
Has Indesit WIL appliances got a inteligence that we have missed !January 28, 2008 at 5:17 pm #241410Martin114

Mm I have been thinking about this, I am now wondering if the machine could have been syphoning and I did not notice that. The thing is with syphoning problems it is obvious but with a electronic machine such as the Indesit I am wondering if this has somehow confused the PCB but what I cannot get my head around is the fact that ok if a WIL was syphoning then why would the Dryer motor start up ???
Anyone had anything like this before I know different ?

A syphoning problem wouldn’t occur within 45 seconds of it starting to fill at the beginning of a cycle.
Sounds to me like the customer got cold feet and needed a way out for some reason. Other than that a fluke chance the machine righted itself.
You may never know.
I would imagine you will have to give back the ISE money. 😥

Last one I had with that sort of problem was due to water leaking from the condenser/fan housing onto the module. Perhaps it’s the same problem and the water has now dried up and the fault cured itself…
Until next time…

Well I have had a think about this and have decided to call on the custmomer this morning to discuss the payment made for the ISE machine, in the process I will ask to see the machine working as I am curious as to how it could be.
If they will not let me see it working then I smell a rat, either way I do not see that there is a lot I can do about the situation as it stands.
The upshot is that I will charged this cusotomer a Labour charge for my time and effort and will sell the ISE.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. We try and keep 3 ISE5s and 3 ISE2s in stock at all times – you will sell it. Quite easily, with a little bit of effort.

I have no worries about selling the ISE that was not my concern, we have been sucessful with the ISE 5. I was more concerned with the circumstances of why the Indesit had suddenly started working after such a weird fault.
I am hoping to get a look at the Indesit later today just to confirm in my own mind that what I have been told is correct and possibly try to find out a bit more.
We will see what happens !

Mm strange one this, the appliance is mysteriously working for no apparent reason other than the drain hose was wiggled by the customer !
I have had to provide a refund on the ISE but no way around that I am afraid. With the appliance working it is difficult to proceed anyfurther because if the PCB has an intermittant fault the customer is loathe to spend any money to prove this.
Its just one of those jobs that you get from time to time where you may never really know what had happened, mind you I would love to get a call saying that its malfunctioned again but somehow I think that this will not occur:
