I have an indesit WG924G, and the door wont latch. It looks like the door is slightly out of allignment with its hole.
Ive taken the catch switch out, and it looks fine, the swich mechanisam work. so i guess prehaps the hinge has just got sprained and the door has droped slightly.
I have tried re attaching the door, using the screws on the door. but that makes no diference.
prehaps the metal hinge spine has sipped. should i try to re attach this, its done up very tightly and for the moment i cant undo it.
any thoughts appreciated.
thanks

Hinge is C00043636, spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one if required. It’s a casting, so they tend to break rather than bend – have you got the locating piece keyed home properly?
Don’t work the lock with the power on, BTW – bl@@dy dangerous and we love you really.

If this is the machine with the handle at the 2 `o` clock position then the pin that goes through the latch on the door will have came out at one side. You can tell this by grabbing hold of the pin (or hook, whatever you want to call it) and seeing if it moves from side to side.
The door has to be split to re-seat it.

thanks guys.
The hinge casting is still in one piece, i was just wondering if it had slipped, prehaps not.
this is the one with the handle at 2:00 the latch does move from side to side, but prehaps it does not spring back as far as it should.
any tips on dismanteling the door, to see if i can persuade the spreing on this latch to be a bit more enthusiastic.
thanks

Look into the slots of the door – you should see the pins through them. After you remove the screws, you need to use a flat bladed screwdriver at the hinge end to prise the inner and outer panels apart.

hi guys
thanks for the advice.
the pin that holds the latch in the door in place had come loose at one end.
after dismanteling the door, i just pushed the pin back in to place. and everything works again.
I bought this washer 7 years ago second hand for £50 and it just wont die.
thanks
🙂
