Please please could some one help me with my dishwasher problem.
I have a 4 year old slimline integrated whirlpool ADG450-3 dishwasher that all of a sudden has stopped working. We dont use it all that often as i find it quicker to wash pots in the sink than to bother stacking them in the machine so i cant say when it stopped working only that it was working one week when my wife did the washing up and then not the time after.
    WHAT HAPPENS IS AS FOLLOWS:

I SELECT THE PROGRAM ON THE LED (1 TO 5)

    I THEN CLOSE THE DOOR

THE MACHINE THEN STARTS MAKING THE NOISES YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A DISHWASHER.

The problem is that other than making noises nothing is happening inside the machine.Last week in an atempt to eliminate the obvious i disconected all the pipes, checked for kinks, looked at the water stop valve(which is in a sealed unit at the far end of the water inlet pipe under my sink) all seemed ok(although i dont know much about these things)
Today i pushed in the door closing mechanism in the door with a knife so i could fool it into thinking it was closed whilst being open.
It would seem that all sorts of gurgling noises are coming from the bottom
of the machine once started but no water(although i am sure i can hear it)
As far as fault codes are concerned it doesnt seem to be showing any.Although 3 lights sometimes start flashing (1st 3 on control panel) if i start and stop it a few times in sucession.
I have spoke to Whirlpool who say they cant help over the phone but are willing to charge me £85 for just the call out charge. :innocent:
Also spoke to a local repairer who seemes to be able to diagnose just by being told the make and model(didnt even tell him the symptoms)
he says it will be the circuit board and that it will not be worth doing!

    Please help if you can.

PS. The DOOR NOW WONT CLOSE (since i tricked it in to thinking it was closed)

hi, to be honest with you I don’t think you sound confident to work on this, the door lock is stuck in the close position and can be tough to return as they are sprung loaded, the independent engineer cant just assume the board is gone. The inlet valve in the machine could be faulty or it could just be the drain pump is running 24/7 due to a anti flood mechanism being set-off, search this site for a recommended engineer.

    Hi craig,

I have EXACTLY the same problem (except jamming the door to watch what happens was going to be my next step, but I think I’ll give that a miss having heard how it damaged your machine).

Did you ever solve your problem?
    Any advice you could share?

    Cheers,
    CJ

Yes i did get to the bottom of it. Using this Forum i managed to get hold of an engineer who fixed it in no time at all (including the stuck catch)
The fee was a very reaonable £50. It would seem that the machine thought it was flooded (though it wasn`t) and all it needed was the float resetting.

The repair engineers i used were City Service who i found by clicking on the need an engineer option on the home page of this website and entering my post etc.
