ParticipantHello all,
Help required with my 2 1/2 year old Bosch Washer Dryer WVT1260GB/01 FD 8506 – starting to play up with a F04 (Pump Problem) on drying program and now on wash programs.
On drying – water (hot) and wet washing in bottom of drum beeps F04. On wash program gets almost to the end and then beeps F04.
So far I have:
1. Cleaned out the pump (nothing found)
2. Removed the hose from the bottom of the drum and checked for obvious blockages (there is a ball float in there?)
3. Removed the outlet hose from the pump and blown through ok (yummy!)
4. Set the machine on drain and watched the impellor spin ok.
5. Checked the inlet valves resistance and for water running through the condensor = ok.I then put the machine on a rinse wash and the same error occurred at the end of the program. I then switch off the machine turn selector to drain and the water pumps out ok.
Any ideas of anything else to check?
Does the pump spin at all times during the drying cycle?
I’ve searched through the forums for similar faults and 1 does mention a syphon tank/bottle – where is that located?
Great web-site, and greatful for any ideas?
Regards
Paul

try checking the pressure chamber, this is a plastic tube that comes off the sump hose, these get blocked and make the machine think it has water in it when it doesnt!
remember to dis-connect from the mains!February 7, 2008 at 5:44 pm #242162PaulM

Hi There,
Thanks for the reply.
I disconnected from mains, Removed sump hose and checked it out – no obstructions in the hose, drum or the Pressure chamber tube.
I then got a bucket and put the outlet hose into it.
On 30 minute drying cycle. Machine pumps out water approx. every minute or so for about 10 seconds. Whilst it does this I can hear a syphoning sound from the soap drawer and I get bubbles in the bucket. It started by pumping out just under a litre every minute.
Then after a while it started punping less water out until eventually I could hear the pump rumble but no syphoning sound from the soap drawer and no water / air coming out the outlet hose.
Drum eventually filled with water and the machine stopped and beeped F04.
I turned the selector to drain and the machine emptied about 5 litres of water out.
So I’m guessing that the pump is taking it’s time to get started and on drying it cuts out after 10 seconds before it has started pumping any quantity of water out. Whereas on drain it has a minute so it gets started and eventually pump the water out?
I checked the impellor and it turns okay and there is no obstruction in the inspection chamber / drain.
Is there anything else to check or should I just replace the pump?
Thanks in advance Paul

Remove filter. With the machine off, see if the impellor has any lateral movement. If it does, you need to replace it.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Checked the impellor – seems okay – no lateral movement and is firm on it’s spnidle.
Impellor turns freely with a twang (I guess as it passes the magnets)

Blockage or pump. Sounds more like blockage?

Just to update on this. It was a weak pump that caused this. replaced with a new one from here (excellent service from parts department).
All now running okay.

Either
Press the START Button and set the programme Selector to Cottons 30 degrees hold down the START Button until the signal is emitted.
Or
