I notice some postings with similar symptoms but no resolution, so here goes…

When trying to start any program there is a brief whirr (half a second) and then the program stops. This started a few days after my Smeg washing machine motor broke and tripped the circuit (common to both appliances) which may be coincidence.

I tried the reset procedure (I think successfully but don’t know) from the forum but no progress. However when trying the reset and getting to the point where C0 was displayed, if I then pressed start it would go through some undocumented program C0, C1, C2 etc. However when going back to a real program the problem persists.

So is there anything else I can try ? The machine is over 6 years old so I am suspecting that a new machine may be better than a callout to repair (Comet are selling the current Smeg model for £279) ?

    Any advice very welcome.

    Thanks,

    Jim.

    Re: Smeg DWF 1.1

The re-set procedure listed through these forums is not applicable to your machine. If it has been tripping the circuit breaker, it implies that you have a component breakdown somewhere in the machine – mains suppressor, heater and soap dispenser solenoid are all known problem points. Any or all of these can damage the main PCB, which will then do strange things – or nothing at all.

Combined repair cost likely to be expensive, either way.
