ParticipantHello, my teka dishwasher has stopped working, whenever the dishwasher is switched on, the 4th and 5th lights flash, and the 6th light stays constant.
Once the dishwasher is turned on, it makes noises like it’s working but, after a couple of minutes, it stops and the lights start flashing again (I can’t remember if it’s the same lights or not, it’s been unplugged since).
If anyone knows, what do the lights mean? Will I have to buy new parts? Where can I get them? We’ve tried finding someone to look at it but there’s only one person who works with appliances (I live in Shetland, google it) and he’s never heard of Teka before.
If it can’t be fixed, we’ll need a new dishwasher, and I don’t know if it can fit in the same way as the Teka is integrated into the units.
Thank you for reading this.

I can find reference to a DW6-55 and a DW7-59. The 7 appears to be a SMEG, which should have 5 leds – the 6 looks like one of the Haier machines, in which case the flashing lights don’t conform to any of the known error codes.
If you check around the edge of the door, there should be a label – if you could post the numbers from that, we may be able to recognise it and come up with something a bit more helpful.

Ooh….. Piccie! Looks like a SMEG label – any chance of one of the control panel/lights?

It’s a SMEG, so actually a decent quality appliance. 4+5 flashing is not a recognised code. You could try the re-set and see if it clears it:
Reset Procedure
Switch on and press the programme button 4 times, within 3 seconds. The 1st and 5th lamps should light…….. You may have to do this several times before it works! Assuming that it does, switch off, count to 10, switch on and run the rinse programme only.It would be worth getting the mains suppressor and the solenoid on the dispenser checked – both of these seem to cause corruption issues.
Power off if you plan to do this yourself.

Thank you very much, I think I tried the reset code, but I’ll do it a few more times to see what happens. And I’ll try phoning the dishwasher guy gain to see if he’s heard of a SMEG, lol.
If I posted a video on youtube, do you think you could tell what was wrong from he noise it made? It’s not really a bad noise, it just never gets to putting water in.

Sorry to bring this up again but if I phone someone about getting it fixed, what do I tell them? Should I say it’s a SMEG model and give him the product code and type?
Update: This is the lights that come on after the dishwasher gives up. The first light is flashing BTW:

Fault indicated is E1 – flood ptotection activated. Water level control is not working correctly. Usually an accumulation of sludge and goo in the fill matrix – highly repairable.
Your local repairer may be more au fait with SMEG, failing that perhaps a call to Teka and ask who their approved agent is.

PS: Lamp 6 will go out when you top up the salt…….

Thanks. My parents bought a new dishwasher yesterday, I’ll tell them they can probably take it back, lol.
EDIT: Any chance of a photo of the fill matrix, or a general idea of where it is?

Ok, last post. Is this the problem? and if so, how does this come out? I really don’t want to break it.

P.S. I feel like this is a silly question.
