Hey everyone ive been here before but i wondered if you could help me with a few questions. Well to cut a longstory short a new central heating boiler being put in meant we might have space for a dishwasher 😀 , however there is always a but and this is where my questions come in (ive put them in a list to try and make them less confusing lol):

    1. is it okay to put a dishwasher below a boiler? there would be about 8 or 9 inches of space between the two if my measuring is correct

    2. the plumbing brings with it more problems as the dishwasher would be around 3 meters from the drain and water line, for the water inlet i was originally thinking of getting a long extension hose but i thought about getting a plumber in to extend the cold water line about 2 meters, any idea what this would cost or is this the wrong place to ask?

    3. for the drain it wouldnt really be possible to bring the pipe work closer to the dishwasher so from what i can see my options are: A. extend the dishwasher hose and put in another adaptor so it can go in the u bend under the sink like the washing machine or B get one of those self cutting drain adaptors and connect it to the drain line just before it goes through the wall into the soil pipe, but would the dishwasher be able to pump this far, its approximately 3 meters.

    4. The floor where the dishwasher would go is slightly uneven as some of the tiles have come up. would i need to get this perfectly level to make sure the dishwasher would work properly.

    5. i was thinking of putting some cork tiles down to help deaden the sound of the dishwasher as i dont know how loud they are. would this help?

    6. in terms of what dishwasher to go for i dont really want to spend more than £250 and was looking at the bosch range, either the SGS45C02G or the SGS43T72G. are there any other dishwashers you would reccomend or is my choice fine? i know to stay away from anything indesit, hotpoint or cheap chinese brands from reading other posts

    7. the space for the dishwasher door to open would be tight and i have measure up the bosch dishwashers and with the door open i think they are approximately 120cm deep which would just open without hitting the washing machine which would be opposite to where the dishwasher would be. I one the bosch website for accurate measurements with the door open but couldnt find any. I wondered if any of helpful people here know the measurements, i asked before but nobody knew its just my measurements might be out as i didnt want to hang around currys too long as i was getting some strange looks opening dishwashers and trying to measure them lol.

i have got a word document where i have drawn out the kitchen layout and where the dishwasher would go and plumbing etc. but i dont know how to put it in this message.

Cheers in advance if you can make sense of my rambling but i tried to give as much detail as i could lol.

    Hi Ant

1 I cannot see any reason as to why not. I`m sure if there is someone will post up 😉

2&3 I would get the plumber in, it`s far easier to see what the situation is at first hand to see what is needed. For information the waste hose is 170cm long and exits from the rear left hand corner.

4 Personally I would like to install to a reasonable level surface but there is a 20mm adjustment on the feet.

5 By laying some tiles would not really affect the noise level that much but it would give you that more level surface as in the previous question 😉

6 Bosch are excellent products and have a two year guarantee. Given the choice I would go with the 46E22 as it has the added advantages of an all stainless steel interior, easier height adjustment of the top basket, fold down racks in both baskets and is slightly quieter at only 49db.

7 The depth of dishwasher with the door down is 1165mm including the overhang on the worktop lid.

    Thanks Don.
I will probably ask over at diynot about the plumbing side of things.
looking at the 46E22 it isnt that much more money and i didnt realise bosch come with a 2 year guarantee. if i installed it myself would this void the guarantee? thank you for the measurement with the door open i had looked all over the bosch website and internet and couldnt find an accurate measurement. One other thing do you know what the maximum pumping distance is on these dishwashers?

No not at all, just make sure that all connections are sound ie no leaks at the plumbing and the condition of the socket is good.

Having some Bosch dishwashers in stock makes it easy 😉

Certainly no more than 3 metres as the pump just won`t carry it. Make sure the waste hose is above the pumping level as well.

    Thanks Don.

I know that when the hose exits the dishwasher i would have to loop it up like on a washing machine but if i made sure the rest of the hose has a gradient on it so it slopes down to the exit would that be fine?

I forgot about the electric cable, i dont suppose you know how long that is do you. Where the dishwasher would go we currently have a compact hotpoint tumble dryer and that reaches the plug socket, so if it is the same length or longer that should be fine.

    That should be fine.

A quick measure says it`s 1.7 metres and it exits from the right hand side, looking from the front of the machine.
