ParticipantHi
Have checked other postings and not spotted anything for fault code 16. The F&P GW500 I’ve got indicates a fault code of 16 (00010000) shortly after power is applied to machine. Goes through the start up sequence and code appears about 20 seconds later without pressing the power on button. Any help would be much appreciated 🙂

That isn’t an error code if it came on at the start. You’ll only get the code by running the diagnostics as per the sticky above.

Hi Penguin45
Thanks for your quick response. Have already tried what you pasted in the sticky. I’m just indicating exactly when this code 16 comes up once power is applied to the machine. Can put it into the diagnostic mode and after about 20 seconds it will indicate this same code when in that state. If you try to initiate the wash sequence immediately after power up, it will activate the water valve(s), but no action from the motor… Then the same fault code appears shortly there after. So same result no matter what one tries. Is 16 (00010000) valid fault code?

16 isn’t valid – 8 is though. You adding them up right to left?
If it is 8, it’s the display module fault. If unplugging the machine and plugging in again doesn’t clear it you’re supposed to replace the board – an expensive option on a 15 year old machine.

Hi Penguin45
Definitely added up LED’s right to left, so 16 (00010000) was the code being displayed.
Have now found the fault on the display PCB. It was Q403 a BC547C NPN transistor labelled as Q403. The Emitter to Base junction had gone open circuit. Had a spare device on hand, replaced it and the washing machine is now working fine 🙂
This device is located next the 12 way connector which provides the main comms link to the motor controller. Form what I can work out this fault code 16 was indicating some form of comms error between the Display board and the Motor controller.
Thanks for all your help.
