Hi, perhaps someone could help with advice.

I have a Homark 02-711000 conventional oven and I heard a pop the other day whilst using it. I believe that some fat go onto the heating element and caused the grill part of the heating element to fail. I have searched on spare parts and believe that HM14101 – Grill Element is the correct spare part, although it doesn’t list my oven. Does anyone know if this is an easy repair. It looks like the heating element just has two retaining screws and would therefore pop out (turn electricity off before touching of course) and just refit the new one. Can the replacement be done without having to remove the oven completely? Having done some research I understand that their are a few knacks and potential problems e.g. retaining screws on the element might be on the inaccessible side, if these drop then I have to remove the oven (which I really don’t want to do) and the wires to the element maybe quite short.

So any advise and tips would be welcome.

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Homark Heating Element

    Hi,

Most oven elements can be done from the front but some, due to the fixing or wiring, the oven just has to come out to do.

Then, as you say, you get the odd one where the fixing falls off or a wire vanishes back into the rear which is normally followed by a colourful phrase when it happens. 😉

In the main it’s not too hard but there’s the odd ones that you have no option but to haul the oven out either because that’s the way you have to do it or, because something doesn’t go to plan.

    Re: Homark Heating Element

Update for anyone interested. The fixing screws on the heating element are indeed only accessible from the back of the oven. So you have to remove the oven. What should have been a relatively simple procedure got very annoying. The phillips screws used are not exactly of the highest quality easily destroyed when trying to remove. One came out no problem the other disintergrated so I had to take a hack saw to the head to cut out a slot and then remove it…this sounds easier that it actually was. My advice would be push really hard on the screw driver so the head of the screw doesn’t get damaged but then I’m no expert. I’ve taped up the electrical connection points and am now waiting for the replacement part, which in theory should be pretty straight forward refit. I’ve had to cut down some machine thread 4mm dia slot headed screws to refit the heating element. Total cost pf repair about £30 and some sweat (includes parts, hacksaw and hassle). Hopefully this hassle will have been worth it…we shall see.

P.S. Remember to turn the electricity off.

Good luck to any DIY repairer out there and thanks to this site which has proven to be a great resource for information an I hope quality spare parts. Keep up the great work.
