    Hi there

I hope someone can help me. I have an Indesit w143s – it’s a few years old now – and the drum seems to have a problem spinning. I’ve tried a few cycles and none of them seem to spin the drum. At the beginning of a cycle the drum does turn slowly about a 1/4 of a rotation, but after it fills up with water it just makes a humming noise like it’s trying to push the drum round. There’s no problem with filling up or draining the machine.

There’s no warning light flashes and I’ve restarted the machine by turning the dial to stop and holding the on/off button for five seconds.

If anyone has any tips, I’d be extremely grateful.

    Cheers

    Bill

Armature in drive motor has cooked and is unable to generate sufficient torque to start. New motor required…….. P/no C00074251 – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.

Power off if you intend to do this yourself.

    Re: Faulty Indesit W143S

I’ve sent in a request for a quote, thanks, but I was looking around a couple of other sites and see that most of them have a Merloni Motor for £123.25: http://www.partmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=856010&query=W143SUK{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}20motor

But on another site there’s an Ariston Motor for £83.99: http://www.espares.co.uk/part/p/0/0/0/0/546050/motor.html?k=W143SUK+motor

Do you know if there’s much difference between the two models? Also should I be spending my time/money upgrading this 3+ year machine or be looking for a new model?

Ah – now the nub of the question……….. 😀

Today the motor, tomorrow (or anytime really) the electronics. Don’t take this the wrong way, but it’s a shockingly poor machine. The electronics are the true Achilles heel, notoriously unreliable. Drum bearings don’t seem to fare too well either.

Personally, I’d consider moving on – it can become a money trap all too easily.

The part number above is correct for your machine, BTW – these on-line spares sites use their own codes, which makes it quite difficult to match and compare. Bear in mind also the Hotpoint/Creda/Indesit/Ariston machines are all the same brand in reality.

Hi, if its under 5 years old then Indesit will repair the machine for a fixed price of £99.98, parts and labour included, with a 12month garantee on the repair
