ParticipantOur new ISE10, after a few shipping delays, has been delivered.
Very impressed with how quiet and quick the machine is. We also like the understated design. Mieles by comparison look rather bling.
Here’s to the next twenty years. š

Yes, we got one in January and we’ve been impressed with it. As you say, pretty quiet and nicely designed. The only problem with ours is that the door seems to take a real push to make it close. It’s not enough to be a problem to us, but I’m not sure that, for example, an elderly relative would be able to close it. It needs enough force that you’re almost pushing the drum to the back of its travel. Is this the same with yours? Is it normal?

It is normal, the knack is to do it with a positive, sharp push, no possible chance of doing any damage.
Shame on you making your elderly relatives do your washing. š

I give mine a sharp push (little slam 8O) from it being a couple of inches open.
We should start a new thread….”ISE10..How do you close yours?” šOn another note I cleaned out the filter the other day which just seemed to be a tray (Containing a 20p coin ā ). I’m assuming there shouldn’t be any kind of mesh in there?

There is a knack to closing the door and usually, I think like Mark thatās been working with these machines from the dawn of time, all we do is close the door till it touches the panel, sharp push, done. Itās only difficult at first as itās a bit different as the door lock and door both move but it does get easier.
Candyking had a little trick with Vaseline on the door latch as well that makes it a lot easier for people that struggle but, as above, once you āget itā itās not any harder than any other door really and, youāll never break the door handle which is in some ways a shame as we sell lots of those for other makes. š
No Gary, thereās no mesh in the filter as itās not needed. Itās a self-cleaning pump thatās designed to throw anything in it back into the filter and will only jam if thereās something pretty substantial in there usually. Put it this way, Iāve never heard of one with a blocked pump.

That’s great 8)
I used to have to clean all the grey stinky goo from the one on my old machine quite regularly so the water would drain properly.
So no real need to check the filter then unless I get a problem?

Manufacturer’s will tell you that, “No, the filter should be checked once a month at least, preferably after every wash.”
However, in the real world…
You should check it on occasion just to make sure there’s nothing nasty in it that may be a potential problem and, if you get an noise on drain at all, it should be checked immediately.
Self cleaning pumps which are pretty common these days, are designed to effectively “throw” anything back into the filter trap and the trap designed to catch most larger objects that can potentially find their way there and also to pump off any fluff, hair etc.. That said, you can still get a build up of fluff/ooze etc. or hairs that can block it and there’s really no way to stop that from happening. So, for the like of washing dog blankets as an example, after I’d advise just checking it to make sure Fido’s hairs aren’t lying congealed in the filter.
It really is a common sense thing in all honesty.

Jon. If it helps I have had a trouble free Asko washing machine for about 17 years. At first the door was a little difficult which I put down to the design of the seal. It just needs a firm touch and it gets better with age. I might add at the same time I also got an Asko dishwasher, dryer and fridge freezer. On moving house I gave the fridge freezer to a friend and its only just given up the ghost. Dishwasher still going very well and trouble free. Dryer sadly had to be taken to the tip (which is why I like the ISE concept). My engineer thought their may be a hairline crack in one of its two circuit boards. He could not trace it and was concerned about running up huge bills because of the cost of parts. So that got replaced with a rather impressive LG one. Since ASKO pulled out of the UK with little thought for their customers, service and parts have been a nightmare. However I do believe they are well made machines and with the ISE back up in future all should be well. I hope iSE launches a dishwasher before mine packs up š

One slight improvement to the ISE10 would be a more refined/damped closure mechanism on the drop-down door.
The rattle detracts from the quality image. But hey now I am getting picky. 8)

In those days ASKO had a presence in the UK (now handed over to Maytag) . I too raised the issue about the pull down door rattling. He told me that when they first brought the drop down door out it was dampened and also had a cut off switch. However they had problems with children pulling down the door and standing on it (Swedish children must be as bad as ours). Hence the current design of the door, but it does not always rattle however mine is an old model so max spin 1500

Strip of magnetic rubber. Rattle be gone. š

Okay, Iāll own up… I have an ISE10 now and have for a few weeks as the old Blomberg finally drew itās last breath with an almighty bang and a cracked drum spider. It did well though, eight years of utter punishment daily.
So one of the last 1400 machines is in daily use here.
I canāt say Iāve noticed any rattle from the door at all on mine however, what I have noticed is a total lack of rattles from anything around it when itās on and I couldnāt say the same for the old Blomberg, the suspension and damping on the ISE10 is just way, way superior. By comparison the ISE is so quiet I barely notice it although, as I get used to it Iām sure any little noise will leap out at me. That said, I will play around a bit and see if I can get it to do it or ask my better half to report any rattles.
It was amusing a few days or week or so ago though when I was in a house that Hotpoint was on spin in, it sounded like Concorde was in the room compared to the ISE. So much so I checked that the bearings on the Hotpoint were okay! Itās weird how you seem to āexpectā a certain sound with some machinery and get miffed when you donāt think itās quite right, although that could just be an engineer thing.
The door closing thing I had to show my partner how to do it as well, itās just a āknackā thing really and once you get it thereās no problem with it and, as has been said, it does seem to bed in with a little use.
On the whole though I have to say I am very impressed but I guess I could be considered a little biased however, I am also more than a bit fussy about washing machines.

I should have been more specific when I mentioned a rattle. There’s no rattle during the cycles simply a slight “crudeness” in way the drop down door closes.

KeymasterAh! Thanks Jumty I would be looking for a fault that didn’t exist although that wouldn’t be a first. š
I can’t say I notice that but I will have a look.

I’m a great believer in customer feedback!
If I were specifying the next batch of these machines I’d replace the stainless steel inner on the drop down door with a more practical wipe down surface that doesn’t show show every finger print and water mark.
