Got a bit of a problem with our dishwasher.
Basically no water enters it.
Programs run to completion as though there was water but the dishes just get a bit baked.
I’ve had a look at the inlet valve and it seems fine, a simple continuity test showed no continuity but an ohms reading showed some resistance (3.5kohms).
Looking at the IWMS there is some black stuff, but not much. I’ve got a photo of it here.My brother, an electrical engineer, then tested the voltage going to the solenoid while running and it didn’t register anything significant, but then we aren’t sure when it would activate the valve anyway.
Is it worth trying to replace the inlet value? The IWMS? Or is it time to call in the experts?

– AndrewUpdate, forgot to mention, I tried putting water in by hand and running the dishwasher. This seemed to work fine, water was sent around the system and later drained.

Is it product number 911841111 as there are 4 different versions & this is the only one that I think has an IWMS. Looking at the pic, I would think that the IWMS is the most likely culprit. Part number of IWMS for product number 911841111 is 152 46 24-03 / 6 .

You could try this process:
1) UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE FROM THE MAINS ELECTRICITY SUPPLY! (IMPORTANT!)
2) Turn off inlet water supply & unscrew inlet hose from appliance inlet valve.
3) Remove access panel to gain acces to inlet valve.
4) Remove clear hose from inlet valve diaphragm & then reconnect hose to diaphragm.
5) Refit access panel & inlet hose. Turn on water supply. Re-establish mains supply & try on a cycle.If it then fills, this proves that the inlet valve had locked out. This happens when the appliance overfills which in turn is due to the IWMS being blocked in the vast majority of cases.

Ah, already tried that.
In fact completely dismantled the inlet valve and there was no sign of any problems there.
Hey ho looks like I’ll have to get a new IWMS.

– AndrewRight, got and fitted the IWMS… Then refitted it to sort out a leak, now it’s filling with water so thats one problem fixed but I seem to have another problem.
The cold rinse seems to work, but then it stops.
The program simply doesn’t continue after the first rinse cycle.
Good job we don’t rely on the dishwasher 🙂 Just means more washing for me on a Sunday.
Reading around I guess there could be an air lock or something. Any suggestions?

Does the water heat during the wash? If not, unplug the appliance & check the heater resistance. NO LIVE TESTING!
Does it drain the water it filled up with? If not, check the drain hose etc.
If it does drain, does it fill up again? If not, are the hoses connected to the correct parts of the IWMS.

Hi, I had a chance to look at it today and while checking the resistance of the heater spotted the problem.
There are three hoses behind the kickplate that connect to the IWMS and I only had the larger two connected properly.
I guess I didn’t connect the smaller one up well enough. As it didn’t result in a leak I didn’t notice it. Hey ho, you live and learn.
Now the dishwasher completes wash cycles and gets hot while doing so.
