ParticipantHi
My Margerhita’s door is stuck, the handle doesn’t feel like its pulling on the mechanism at all (it doesn’t spring back when released either).Any suggestions as to what I can do about this?
thank you

For a start you could give us the full model number. 😉
Sounds like a broken door handle though.

Is that AWD12UK or AWD12SUK ( is it white or silver) 😉
If it is white then you need C00116580, if it is silver then its a C00081331.
An e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should do the trick.
Sometimes it is just possible to release the door latch by using long nosed pliars or sliding a piece of strong, fine string down the edge of the door to release it.
The other way is to unplug from the mains, remove the lid and reach down inside and try and push the latch back.
If you do attempt to replace the handle, take careful note of the position of the pin & spring, a very awkward job to refit.

Thanks alot iadom – took the top off the washer (first time for everything – expecting a load of muck, and it was good as new inside – why did I expect dirty water would be all over everything? :rolls: :rolls: 😆 )
released the door, seems like the little part of white plastic that pulls back the metal latch has sheared off, leaving the handle pulling on nothing.
Not sure if this is a daft question, but is it easier/safer to just buy a new door – if the mechanism is a bit tricky? Never undertaken this type of job before.
the help is much appreciated
cheers

I would say its a daft question, but then I have fitted hundreds of door handles. Complete door is well over £35.00 handle is around £5.00.
It is really just a fiddle, why not have a go, if you don’t crack it then you can always order a door knowing that you have a spare handle kit should you need it in future.

Make sure you get the correct part. White door assembly is C00116624.
