Hi, one of the control buttons was turning round but not turning the ring on or off. I was able to pull the button out & tighten the nut inside .
But to get the little insert back in I need to remove the front control panel but cant work out how to do this.
    Can anyone help please.
    Many thanks

You should not need to remove any of the front glass panel to remove or refit a complete control knob on any of these cookers ( a full model number would help 😉 ) They are just a pull off /push on fit.

If you managed to access the nut securing the regulator, then you have somehow managed to remove the indicator disc 😕 , that can also break away and give the impression the switch is not turning when in fact it is just the indicator disc that has come adrift. Access to these discs does require full removal of control panel front.

However removal of the control panel is not a simple DIY job. Depending on the model it requires removal of both side panels, the hob has to be released and lifted back, all of the control knobs removed etc. Be sure to switch off at the wall socket if you intend to attempt this.

Can you describe the ‘insert’ you refer to or post a picture of it, it sounds to me as though it may be the small centre piece that has broken off the much larger indicator disc. It is a small dark plastic disc about the size of a 20p piece with a D shaped hole in the middle.

    Jim.
