Again, I find myself tasked with the challenge of identifying and hopefully rectifying an over worked washing machine employed to wash the clothes of several young children. LOL

Anyway joking aside, can any of you fellow engineers shed some light on what the most likely causes are to be? I’ve done a little research and the fault would suggest either the heating element, duff relay or possibly a blockage in the pump. Is there anything else worth taking a look at whilste I have her disconnected?

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Heater relay = PCB fault…….. Use your 5 year parts warranty – it’s cheaper than trying to source the parts yourself.

Turned out to be a faulty heating element, a quick check with a low reading ohms meter confirmed the element had burnt out (Open Circuit). Found a new element (Hotpoint Part number 16004486) for £32.50 including delivery. Fitted it tonight and the jobs a good’un. Thanks to Penguin for the advise, fortunately I didn’t need to replace the card and the self fix was cheaper then a hotpoint call out charge.
