ParticipantI’ve got a built-in Diplomat ADP8224 dishwasher which won’t power-on i.e. no sign of life at all.
I’ve checked the fuse in the mains plug, but it was ok.
The only sign of trouble I’ve been able to find is a little discolouration of the white wiring going to/from the main switch on the top of the door.
As far as I can tell, the switch itself has survived whatever caused the wires to overheat. Specifically, there’s a connection between some of the terminals in the ON position, but the same terminals are open-circuit in the OFF position. Without knowing which terminals are supposed to be connected in the on/off positions I can’t be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure but, as I said, it looks okay, superficially at least.
Without knowing much about the workings of dishwashers I’m not sure where to look next, hence the request for your help.Cheers,

Firstly (obvious but often overlooked) does the supply socket actually have power? (plug something else in it to establish)
Secondly, you need to chase down the circuitry with a meter….i would start by metering from each plug pin, up to and across the on/off switch. IME if the wires are discoloured at the terminals they need re-terminating, and the switch being plastic bodied will most likely be damaged 😉 You may find the supressor is open circuit/burnt also.
When you’ve done that, check the continuity of the soap dispenser solenoid and the consequently damaged pcb (probably) 😕
Naturally, all the above should be done with the plug pulled out :zap:

That’s a fair point about checking that the socket actually still has power – I can’t think why it wouldn’t, but I’ll have a look.
As far as “chasing down the circuitry”, which plug are you talking about ? If you mean the 13-amp mains plug, that won’t be easy to trace since the dishwasher is a built-in machine. It looks like I might have to pull the whole thing out and up-end it, which I was hoping to avoid. (If you’re talking about a different plug, please explain).
Where will I find the soap dispenser solenoid ? I’ve had a quick look at the PCB and there’s no visible sign of damage, although I accept that doesn’t necessarily mean much.
I’ll check the supressor as well, which I think I saw dangling in-line on the main wiring loom under the machine.
Thanks for the help, but I think I might be back for some more pointers once I’ve completed the above.
Cheers,

Drag machine out – you should be able to use your meter for a continuity check from the mains plug up to the power switch for the live and neutral, also for switch function.
The soap dispenser solenoid is inside the door on the back of the dispenser unit. It suffers from dampness and corroded terminals. This can be enough to throw the computer board.
