Went to this m/c the 2 end lights where lit (3&5) which according to error codes means heat censor o/c or s/c,tested this & it read 17k . Tried re-set mode ,m/c pumps constantly then after 3-4 mins m/c bleeps once then 1st led flashes & 5 stays on permanent ,there is no leak under the m/c in fact its bone dry. I think this m/c is a Smeg version.Any clues please?

Yup it’s a Smeg built for MFI – it sounds like it’s in the wrong mode and needs to be reset. The Smeg version has a flow meter which the Diplomat doesn’t but they both use the same board, just programmed differently. It sounds like the board is trying to find the flow meter and failing so is cancelling the program.

Wait a few seconds (10-15 is plenty) then switch the machine back on and set it to a program to test.Hopefully that should do the trick.
Give that a try before changing anything. Sometimes a power surge can cause the board to default to factory settings, often if it’s been left on overnight.
