LG american F/F GRL206, customer complaint things starting to defrost so she switched off and defrosted it completely.

She noticed the back panel bottom near vent has started to melt.

We called and checked it noticed a lump of ice still formed around top of evaporator, no fault code has appeared on the display.

The service manual mentions a test function, yet could not access this. it mentioned a test switch which is on the main fridge pcb but had agood look round could not find it. the only test switch found is in the icemaker.

Any suggestions how to access the test function and why if it is getting too hot the thermal fuse hasnt operated?
As it was almost defrosted I suppose it could be a system fault block of ice at top and no ice at bottom it could get hot and cause plastic to melt .

If you look at it they use a small but potent mineral heater to defrost the freezer evaporater so this will get very warm and warp in time.

Funny though this is how samsung have now started to go so poss calls with the same fault?

Is this the one with led’s on the front panel or along pcb at top as this shows the fault. Let me know what led’s are showing. ❓
