Hotpoint Mistral FF92TC fridge to warm reads +19 freezer is ok at -22
Defrosted for 48hrs, switched fridge&freezer back on and they worked ok for 2 days then the temperature in the fridge crept back up to +19.
An engineer’s advice over the phone said it was a control module fault and it would cost £135+vat+time to fit a new one. But after looking at some of the posts i think it may be a thermistor fault any idea’s?
If it was a thermistor fault how do i get access to them?
Fan behind bottom grille working ok, is the other one behind the freezer?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi nutter,

I’m not sure how you get access to the thermistors on the Hotpoint Mistrals as I’ve not done one in the field but they are a known weak point and, I suspect, that’s what the problem is.

However, I thought I’d better point out that -22C is not okay in the freezer. The optimum temperature for frozen food storage is -!8C, go above (-17C or more) or less (-19C or less) and it’s a bad thing. The mean temperature between compressor cut in/cut out should be -18C, it can vary 10-20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} easily either side so a 2 degree deviation but it should average at -18C, any freezer should. Outwith that there’s either a problem with the appliance, the thermostat being used to read the temperature is unreliable or the stats or unit display are just not accurate enough.

If the temp is above or below -18C food is degrading faster than it should be and therefore presents a danger when consumed.

Refrigeration is all about reliable temperature stability.

Sorry, just thought it was worth pointing out as many people ramp up the temp on the dial of a freezer to bring it down lower and they do more harm than good by doing so.

Re: Hotpoint FF92TC Fridge to warm

Hi, just to clarify a few points, module failures on the FF range is very very rare, i bet ive only fitted 2-3 in 10 years, if the module does fail the whole machine would be dead
Also although as kwatt points out -22 is not ideal to many, all of the FF range with temp displays run at -22 for the freezer in normal running mode
By far the most likely cause will the thermistors in the freezer, they are behind the panel, but before you go looking please make sure the plug is out, and also watch out for the main grille its edges are like razor blades!, there are 2 thermistors in there, worth changing both, and both i believe available from the shop@ here, when you get them will know what you are looking for inside!

£25 for the pair, much better than wasting £135!!!
